I provide accurate, thoughtful translations from Japanese to English, with special attention to cultural nuances and tone. My areas of expertise include:
- Technical documents, such as patents from the Japan Patent Office, mechanics catalogs, and corporate newsletters for a major Japanese steel manufacturing company
- Fine arts, museum, arts education, and humanities-related documents
General personal and official documents, such as koseki tōhon (family registers), birth,
marriage, divorce and death certificates, wills, diplomas, educational records, health records, and pension documents
- Blog posts and newsletters
For official documents, I offer certified translations with a signed and, if necessary, notarized certificate of accuracy.
to have your documents translated:
Please email me with a detailed description of your project (including any specific instructions), the document (preferably in Microsoft Word or Simple Text format, but PDFs are also acceptable), and your name. I will respond with an exact quote and turnaround time. If you are on a tight schedule, please be sure to contact me to confirm that I am available.
I charge per Japanese character of the source document. Specific rates depend on the content, length, and deadline of the project, and include a complete editing and proofreading process.
If you have any questions, or would like to request a quote, please send me a message.
